when the summer rain looked like snow
Remember that day we walked to the library and it started to rain?
Today the rain is the same as that day
that day it poured but we laughed and kept on walking anyway
that day the library was our safe haven from the storm
as if we were alone
as if it was only us in the entirety of the universe,
universes surrounding us in the form of black ink on white pages.
The rain is the same as that day --
In the air moments before, almost predictable,
and yet sudden. Harsh and quick and needed and warm.
I realize today that if you look close enough
the summer rain looks like snow perfect and light
like in January.
The today rain seems to tell me
I began to love you that day.
That day we walked to the library anyway
and talked and walked close together
That day the summer rain looked like snow
