A story has as many versions as it has readers - Winter Of Our Discontent

Some nights, I just need to be alone with myself

Some nights, I just need to think

So I step out quietly

Out of my house unnoticed

These are the times I feel so different

Out of body from myself, I let my brain go

I let all the stupid mistakes I made bombard me

It can be a good thing, but most times it leaves me in grief

In pity for my life

Because it really is pathetic

To just stand under a street lamp

And hate yourself

The author's comments:

This piece is really just about when my mind overthinks about everything I've done. Honestly, my neighbors inspired me to write this and I'm not quite sure why but they did.

I love this @Rsnail-925! It's relatable because of both the words and the simplicity of writing. Sometimes it can be hard to find poetry that you like just because it wasn't written in an understandable format. Great job!

Yeah, I did it unintentionally but I think it really added depth to this piece. Thanks!

The universe must be a teenage girl. So much darkness, so many stars.

The line spacing! It seems to represent so much.
