I’ve been waiting here

At the edge of the water

The wind blowing through my hair

The smell of sea salt filling my nose

The sun just peeking out over the horizon

Nothing but vast oceans stretching out for miles

It’s a beautiful sight

But looking at the sun rise is not the main purpose

For why I am here

I have come to bid my final good byes

To someone I love

I feel as if a part of me died with her

I shiver at the water’s cold touch

Memories flooding through my mind

I picture her riding her Arabian horse

Through the fields of grass that never seem to end

I can see the smile on her face as the wind whips around her

She slows when she reaches the house

She gets off the horse and leads it to the barn area

And there I am

Stroking the mane of another horse

As I lean over the fence

I see her feeding the horses

Me tagging along so I could pet them

I go to the one she rode named Acadia

I try to hug it, but I’m too short, too small to make a difference

We go back inside

The memory fades away

And I am brought back to reality

Tears stream down my face

I miss her

I would give anything to spend one more day with her

I never even got to say good bye

I wasn’t by her side when she passed

All I can do is call out

Maybe she will hear me

Goodbye Nana

Rest in Peace.
