Huck Finn MAG

By Anonymous

      Drip-drop, pitter-patter, I found you skipping stones

in the quiet of the gentle

afternoon rain.

In your dirt-cuffed jeans with disheveled

wet hair, you seemed

to have jumped from the pages

of an old Mark Twain;

just to be here for me

in the midst of the still stirring

still gentle

but not so lonely rain.

This was really good! I enjoyed the Mark Twain, Huck Finn reference, it really reminded me of the novel. The description just screamed Huck's persona, beautiful.

Wow. This is awesome! I think it's so neat how you paralleled the character with a Mark Twain character: giving a certain personality to all Mark Twain characters and almost something you could strive to. I love the lovey-dovey-ness because it's not the typical, overwhelming "I love you so much, and I never want to leave your side because you're wonderful and fantastic and perfect!" sense that so many love poems do. It's understated which to me, has the most powerful effect when it comes to love poems. Perfect.
