Where I'm From
I'm from blazing summer days,
and frigid winter nights.
I’m from the pole cracking,
and the fish stacking.
I’m from the intimidating slope,
and the glistening snow.
I’m from whistles blowing,
and squeaky floors.
I’m from lingering grass,
and a touchdown pass.
I’m from elegant music playing,
and hearing the guitar strum.
I’m from caring and sharing,
and giving to the poor.
I’m from the man in the sky,
and him looking in my eyes.
I’m from a church of a wise man,
and him preaching his thoughts.
I’m from a family of good hope,
and the bond that we have.
I’m from a father of dedication,
and a mother of creation.
I’m from a family of laughter,
and we’re all imperfect.
