Not Supposed To, I Reflect

As I laid my head on your chest
Intentionally and unfairly
Your breath hitched and your eyes stole glances
And I imagined how much better it would feel
If this were allowed between us
If I hadn’t let go of you
If you didn’t want me back
If we were still us
Instead of you and I
But still I do what is forbidden
And listen to your heartbeat
And feel your warmth
And simply look at you
As I laid my head on your chest
