The Never Ending Cycle
A soft yellow hue tints the sky
The waves crash peacefully on the wet hard sand
Grainy with pebbles and seashells
The sky is a canvas of pink clouds
And the soft color of baby blue
Like the hats at the hospitals
They give to newborn babies
It peeks out over the horizon
Its bright orange head begins to rise
Higher into the sky
Illuminating the soft world
As if a light bulb is being switched on
In the morning
The sky turns brighter
Like the faces of kindergarteners
On the first day of school
The sun shines down on the ground
Heating the sand and bringing
Warmth down to earth
The waves crash violently on the sand
But I laugh with joy
Its rays reach down to touch my skin
And I feel happy
Free and ready to take on the world
The way a mother feels
When she holds her child for the first time.
The sun begins to set
Over the bay
The calm, cool ripples of water
Splash my feet as I watch them go
The sky is a deep red
And the clouds are filled with
The fading orange rays
The sun has a final moment
On the horizon
Waving goodbye as it begins to descend
Like an old person squeezing your hand
For the last time.

I love watching the sunrise and sunset on the beach, so I decided to write a poem that correlates the cycle of life to the cycle of the sun.
