patchwork

they are the
mismatched batch:
patched up with off-hue scraps of flesh
constructed with ocean eyes
plateaued stomach
vulnerable soul.
they stand in a deserted workshop
rows by the hundred
plucked with metal fingers
and strewn like easter eggs
around the world;
made randomized in an order
to be legitimized
they roam and search
for asylum
they search for similar scars
and blemishes
trying to complete their puzzles
with the last piece.
