Death occurs.

It’s just so simple.

One second, you’re here.

The next, you’re underwater in a bathtub.

Floating around,

The dead weight of your hands

Barely sinking under,

And the laps of the water on the tub.

So easy.

So quick.

Until he comes in

And pulls you out.

Your wet hair drips

And tears are streaming down your face.

You wanted to go.
Why did he have to stop you?

He screams at you.

He’s holding your arms.

For the first time,

You see him cry.

He yells at you about the kids.

About the wedding.

About your jobs.

About the future.

He wouldn’t be able to function.

He wouldn’t be able to handle life.

He wouldn’t be able to move on.

He wouldn’t be able to live.

You tell him that’s not true.

That he will find someone else.

That she can help him function.

And to get through life.

Somehow you escape his grasp.

When he turns away

You sink back under.

And you try your very hardest to stay there.

But he sees you.

He’s too strong.

He pulls you back up

And this time out of the tub.

He grabs you a towel

And gets you dry.

He lays you down on the bed

And wraps his arms around you.

You realize what you would’ve missed out on.

You feel his warm body

And you vow to yourself never to do it again.

But soon enough,

Death occurs.

It’s just so simple.

One second you’re here,

And the next, you’re underwater in a bathtub.
