I was told to write a poem for English

It’s only 20 points

This could be the one that could kill me.

I can’t write like a professional,

I don’t know what to think,

I don’t know what to rhyme,

My teacher might put my name in a flowchart.

I was told to write a poem for English

There’s so many different topics

That I could write about

But my words fail,

I stop midway,

And go back to the start.

My teacher might dart

Others write about school

Or stress

Or their pet fish

Wow, this is exceptionally bad.

I don’t know, I’m confused, my thoughts are in a jumble.

My teacher might call this art.

I was told to write a poem for English

It needs to be double spaced.

I made sure it was size 12 Arial font.

Each stanza has 7 lines

Every one of the first lines are the same

That will contribute to the flow section of the rubric

My teacher might think I’m smart.

I was told to write a poem for English

I followed the rubric to my best ability

I’m starting to get distracted

I hope this will suffice.

Most of the last lines rhyme,

There’s 7 stanzas.

My teacher might draw a heart.

I was told to write a poem for English

There’s no rhyme scheme

I don’t even know if there’s figurative language

Oh wait!
I think there’s a hyperbole in the third line.

I can’t give up yet, not now.

I need these points to pass.

I was told to write a poem for English

I tried my very best

It might not rhyme

I couldn’t think of anything else that would rhyme with dart.

Let’s call it free verse

I think I did okay.

Hopefully I get an A!
