The Land I Call My Home
I am from the midwest US, where the frigid weather bites,
where the frosty winter burns my face in the later parts of January.
Like most I have become used to this, as I zip my coat and face away from the wind.
I am from the road of a rugged town, that has been here for a while
where smiling faces fill the stores and bars that define our culture.
Despite the town’s size, it still thrives, and has since 1842.
I am from down the road, away from the town of Stone Bank,
where the gentle breeze is all you hear in a place where people are scarce,
across the street from a cornfield, where living is quiet and peaceful.
I am from a small horse farm, where I’ve lived since my birth,
where I’ve grown and experienced each day of my life.
With lots of room, it's nice to live away from the noise of the city.
I am from southeastern Wisconsin, at the top of the United States,
where living can be difficult but things are evenly paced.
Even through the difficulties, it is my home and is irreplaceable.
