The Monsters
Teenage girls
With their words, like sharp teeth carving my skin.
When they glare I can feel the claws pierce my eyes,
in their clans they whisper deceitful rumors about me.
I sit and wonder why me,
why do the monsters come to school?
I thought they only come out at night.
When the moon is full and the air is bitter.
They cloak themselves as guardians,
how is that fair fight.
I am afraid they might follow me home every night,
that the whispers will stay when the monsters are gone.
I know the monsters were made this way,
all of them once had monsters of their own.
They know what the gashes and bruises feel like,
perhaps they might not be monsters after all.
We all the have the same agonizing pain inside.
In the end, we all are human.
