Goosebumps
I got out of bed this morning
my eyes feeling scratchy
put my clothes on for the day
with my body layered in goosebumps
I turned my heater on
let the goosebumps slowly fade
I brush my hair
hoping I won’t have to straighten it
put mascara on
hoping one eye isn’t too much better
than the other
I brush my teeth
hoping to take the aftertaste of coffee away
I walk outside
head to the bus stop
my body, once again, is layered in goosebumps
