Ode To Cosmic Brownies
brown sludge of unnatural chocolatness
that leaves
my mouth covered in mud like chocolate
for hours after consuming the galaxy
colored sprinkles so bright
they can only be man made so what
if it’s fake
as much chocolate content as smarties
i come from
a town of drug addicted and
where we got
our dolls from dollar store so what
if my American
girl doll wasn’t perfect and didn’t
fit the stigma
at Walmart, the worst place to be
the cashiers voice
a jingle of charm bracelets on a desk
i never knew
i would miss the artificial chocolate
that wasn’t real
and maybe never from cocoa beans
i attend a
school that brags about academic
excellence but never
faces the fact
that we are all depressed
inside and the little things like cosmic brownies
make it all better again
