Diamonds are Forever

Skating through agony,

superiors granting handouts to youth.

Brainwaves travel by sparks of energy

waiting for my moment of truth.

Easy to follow suit, like sheep in a herd

dogs bark, echoing in a empty house.

Land of the rich, I feel baron yet

hard work splits the difference.

I’m from hectic streets and lonely parks

where people dismiss the downtrodden.

Confrontations are considered altercations and

truth twists to a lie.

Friends turn to snakes who slither and catch me in their bind and

enemies turn into rats who squeal and squeak.

Giving an eye for an eye

will make you go blind.

Tried to put out my fire, and got burnt.

Diamonds are forever,

so I grow, gleam and glisten like a VVS.

First obligation is myself.

Never forget to give back.

Wealth and poverty clash.

Swift to lend a hand,

identity like Malcolm or Mandela.

Skating through agony,

superiors granting handouts to youth.

Brainwaves travel by sparks of energy

waiting for my moment of truth.
