On the long winding road

nothing but my

arms and legs,

helpless

I sit and

Wait

The sun burns my scalp

helpless

Shadows cast over,

I gaze up to find

great oaks

I struggle to stand, but I keep moving forward,

From crawling to walking,

From babbling to speaking

I walk down the long winding road,

with the whispers of

soft light;

keep the path lit and my skin warm

As my limbs grow longer

and stronger

leaves litter from above

along with escaped rays of light

for the green could no longer protect me,

The beautiful canopy

turning

to a melancholy brown

Bare limbs soft

and roots withered

All I can see are somber stumps

My skin red,

helpless

so

I walk down the long winding road

The sun burning my scalp knowing

one day I will see

the beautiful green in front of me

the evergreen canopy
