Sea Fever
She was born of ocean and bred of waves
They always knew that she couldn't saved
She wore sea foam as jewelry and the tide as her clothes
She followed the moon; she would come and she’d go
Steep bluffs as her backdrop, she’d paint with the sun
Kissing the seashore, warm sand on her tongue
They didn't understand why her feet shook on land
Swimming was walking, salt lacing each hand
They tried to control her, tried to dry out her soul
She was made of water and so she wasn't whole
One night she escaped by the light of the moon
The tide sang out to her, crashing waves were her tune
She swallowed the ocean and it swallowed her
Sea-fever, they called it, and there was no cure
