Don't grow up dear Ava,
It isn't what you think.

It isn't all pretty,
It makes your heart sink.

Everybody knows your name,
but nobody cares.

They see your tears,
but offer blank stares.

Don't grow up dear Ava,
It isn't what you think!

It isn't very fun,
being so stressed out.

This shouldn't happen,
I feel so ugly and stout.

I'm only in Eighth grade,
but Ava I know what's up.

This world is bad,
spoiled like a poison cup.

Don't grow up dear Ava,
It isn't what you think!

I feel the pain of words,
hurled at me through notes.

I carry the world,
no hope or antidotes.

I don't want to show you,
the world, it's so cruel!

I don't want you to know,
what it's like in school!

Don't grow up dear Ava,
It isn't what you think!

True, being an adult isn't what teenagers make it cracked up to be. I enjoyed reading the rythmes in the stanzas and being able to relate easily! Keep writing :)

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.

The worl is a crule, cold world. I can connect to this. All I can say is your poem is very powerful and wonderfully written, Liv.Harris. Thank you for sharing this!
