Devil's Glare
And we loved
All too much,
So he told
Us to hush.
But oh, no,
How could we?
You planned to bow
On one knee.
Our love was strong;
Stronger than most.
I am sure we even
Scared our host.
We always laughed,
and oftentimes,
We'd come up
With little love rhymes.
We thought we were safe
Talking about forever,
And telling lies
We deemed clever.
But before we rung
The wedding bell,
Our love was brought
To the gates of Hell.
Fiery pits
And molten rock,
We both stood still
As a block.
There he stood,
Angry and red.
He believed none
Of what we said.
We handled this
With no grace.
We could not find
Our home base.
I loved you,
You loved me,
But we could not
Let him see.
But we soon broke,
We had to care,
Unable to escape
The devil's glare.
