A Flight of Fancy

Oh to be a hawk
cried the sparrow
for I fear my view of life is rather narrow
to soar above the clouds
with my hunting call so loud
and to glide over the farmer’s field and fallow
Oh to be a sparrow
cried the hawk
to have a merry song and not a savage squawk
to flutter through a field
picnic crumbs unto me yield
and with other creatures stop and talk
