you're gray
At first you’ll awake with high hopes for the day,
But your outsides have color and your insides have gray.
So you go to school yet again naked of a smile,
With another scary thought to add to the pile.
In class you won’t get a word that the say,
‘Cause depression consumes your mind with no delay.
They say it could be worse and you muster a sigh,
You envy their naive ways, their hopes so high.
As if you don’t know how self-indulgent you’re being,
With people everywhere deprived of hearing and seeing?
You have it so good; no reason for despair,
You’re selfish to be distraught with a life so fair.
“Get out of my head!” you cry when you’re alone at night,
You’re sick of fighting this boomerang-like fight.
There’s nothing to help an there’s nowhere to run,
These thoughts and these feelings, you must learn to shun.
That morning you awoke with high hopes for the day,
But your outsides had color and your insides had gray.
