Thunder's storm

There was stillness in the air,
While a darkened veil set;
Over old and the fair,
Not a single spruce ling spared.

The wind picked up her pace,
A violent howl was heard;
Screaming out her misery,
To all who hear her case.

Angered was the outburst,
Thunder shouts his rage.
To quench his temper’s thirst
He let his beast from its cage.

Fleeing down from the sky,
Leash and chain left behind;
No creature can deny,
The strength in Lightning’s bite.

Tiny timber’s life cut short
As Lightning struck her heart;
Her trunk snapped as she fell,
Prey to Thunder’s sport.

The author's comments:
I always loved thunder storms. I guess it was the excitement I felt as a child when my little siblings and myself played hide and seek in the house during the thunder. It was a game we played to keep the young ones from getting scared. A storm is a dangerous force though, one every person has respect for. This is just an example of the destruction a storm can bring.
