There once was a man who lived long ago
Whose body was young but his heart had grown old
His mind was full of the things he’d been shown
Nothing new or bold to him could be told

But a man came to him with whispers unknown
Promising wealth, riches, power, swearing it was free
“See magic is costly, but you will soon see,”
Said he as he fled, quickly as could be

But lone behold, a watch he left on the ground
With dull written words inscribed all inside
Beware the user of this cracked old watch
Its secrets inside should always be kept confined

But the man did not listen, the watch he did use
With it he turned back the clock, returning his life
New things he’d accomplish and wonders he’d build
No longer would his life be filled with years of strife

Many lives he would lead as many different men
Some would be heroes, others would run
Great countries he’d lead, as Caesar or Alexander
A conqueror he’d be, becoming the world’s new light and sun

But soon he would age and his life looked to be over
But one turn of the watch and he’d be brand new
For hundreds of years he would wander the Earth
Playing many parts as time slowly flew

But ever so slowly the man settled down
A full life he had lived, so many stories to tell
Of the watch filled with magic that gave him his life
Of the people he’d seen and opponents he felled

Children would gather to hear him say,
“There once was a man who lived long ago
