Bluebird
‘Sing with me’ says the bird, flying in the sky
‘Come and dance among the clouds, tell your friends goodbye’
In flurry of blue feathers, he dips among the trees
Weaving through the branches, his laugh is grace and ease
‘Imagine the fun you could have and all the places you could see’
‘Lift your arms, sprout some wings, and come explore with me’
Alas ’tis impossible, this task one longs to see
Any hope of takeoff shall live in fantasy
For only with eyes closed and face kissed by a breeze
Can one fly beside the birds as often as does please
