Losing Lovers, Losing Time
He left his Lady Verse
for life’s other odd treasures
and since he’s been away
she’s lost all her old lusters
With her touch not quite as
compelling, less enchanting,
his oaths of endless love
he has begun recanting
But what is this, this strange,
strange happening, happening here?
As he writes his parting note
he feels a feeling quite queer
He rips it up, he can’t,
he can’t do it, he loves her,
to his abysmal pain
he knows she’s the only cure
And the special thing ‘bout
that ole’ lady, Lady Verse,
is she holds no grudge, no spite,
and young fools she won’t amerce
