I flutter in-between those conspicuous ideals
And try to hold above their siren call your heart;
But I found that life is not kind to those who love—
I found that it mercilessly tears them apart.
But even so—
You might think that the whole world is wrong,
And that the light doesn’t quite reach the trees,
But I found a nice place to sit and think here—
Promise you’ll save some goodness for me.
