The Real Her
I peered into the mirror
Which was stapled to my wall
At the perfect face of mine
Which had no flaws at all
My hair was silky and smooth
With the ever slightest shine
I knew it was better than the others
And I was so glad that beauty was mine
But my face seemed a bit different that day
As I looked up once again
My eyes were faded into a grey
Where the beautiful hazel has been
My hair was a scattered, tangled mess
Each end was split in two
I shook my head at the reflection
And denied that this was true
But my skin got paler and my lips cracked
As if the moisture was taken away
I tried to pull my hair into a bun
But I just couldn’t get it to stay
My reflection stared right back at me
With eyes now fiery red
I closed my eyes to run away
But the image wouldn’t leave my head
I opened my eyes to the girl in front me
And my vision got fuzzy because
The girl in the mirror was showing me
Who I really was.
