Hunted
Twilight on the horizon,
Scamper back to the hollow,
Safety leaves in moments,
Hope they do not follow.
The moonlight beams within,
Hide in leaves within a cave,
Hear noises up above land,
Must attempt to be brave.
A muzzle breaches in,
Cannot move or breathe at all,
It moves towards the pile,
A tail scratches the wall.
Predator listens to the ground,
Silently awaits outside,
Resist fleeing from the beast,
Remain static and alive.
Silence lingers quietly,
Hunter moves his muzzle away,
Padding footsteps forth,
Unscathed another day.
