Sick Day
Why is it so cute when you're sick?
You make me smile, you know?
Laying your head down on the desk,
Falling asleep... caught my eye somehow.
You're so tired and you should be at home,
But you put on that smile anyway,
I tell you to sleep, and just to go home,
But you wanted to see me, you say.
I let you get away with so much when you're sick,
Those little lines you tend to let slip.
I just pat your heat, patronizing, i know,
But you just sniffle, and wink just a bit.
You lay your head back down,
For just a moment you are vulnerable,
I can now see how exhausted you are,
You are actually quite miserable.
I see in the way you slump on the desk,
You are barely able to function,
I pat your head, comforting this time,
You are too tired to mention.
In an instant, you sense what I am seeing,
And you pull yourself together.
You smile, and make me laugh again.
As I try to make you feel better.
