I was only a little girl,
hurled into a bitter world.
Long blonde hair in bouncing curls,
dark blue eyes that start to swirl.
Memories come with sudden heat,
knocking me right off my feet.
My heart jumps and skips a beat;
bad times are stuck upon repeat.
Come on now, take a seat,
pardon if I start to weep.
I just want to fall asleep,
only then, I feel complete.
The monsters rise, I know their eyes,
I know their words and every lie.
They kiss my cheek and say goodnight,
they smile like everything's alright.
But something's amiss, I hear a fight,
it's in my head, it's out of sight.
The faded stars are becoming bright;
I wish I may, I wish I might.
Tell me, when will this be done?
When will you put down your guns?
I just can't stay, I want to run
to where I am loved by someone.
Please come back, I need you here,
you're the source of all my fears.
But hold me close, so I know you're near
and then my tears will disappear
Is this how it's supposed to be?
You and me, unconditionally?
They're feeding my lies, what is true?
All I know is I want to be with you.
Time only knows what this will do,
and tell me why my memories are few.
There's so much to say, so much to capture;
thoughts that pour in for hours after.
Broken down by smiles and laughter,
shattered in bits 'til it doesn't matter.
All I have left are pieces of past;
A horrible time that went by too fast.
Nobody thought the story would last
until it all came rushing back...
