First Snow
Whipping winds and birds aflutter
Oh how it caused my heart to stutter
Waking branches from their slumber
From beneath their soft, fleece blanket of gentle cotton snow
And soon befell calm jubilation
I stood transfixed in admiration
And experienced new sensations
From this crisp and crystalline world that I had yet to know
Then joining the melodic choir
A violin sighed beyond the briar
Sang vibrant, clear, pure notes entire
All while the sun compelled this dreamlike winter scene to glow
As sweet songs quelled all apprehension
And rid my weary soul of tension
A single thought snared my attention
I never wish to return to humid, heated woes
For I had never before seen such fair and frosted snow
