I miss you
If I’m going to be honest and you know I always am
then I’d grab your face in both my hands and scream upon command
‘I miss you like the sun misses the moon
I miss you, I miss you
I miss you like a baby misses the womb
I miss you, I miss you.
I miss you
I miss you
I miss you
I miss you.’
And when your ears began to ring and the salt water began to stream
I’d lean my forehead against yours, ceasing to scream.
In a whisper I’d begin, until you could no longer hear my inflection
and from my heart the words would sing, ‘the truth hurts baby, don’t it?’
