Go Away
Just go away, they say
just go away
they turn their heads,
as if I've already left
I sit,
I stare,
I wonder what I did wrong
this time
go away, they repeat
as if I'm not smart enough to understand
I understand;
I've heard this all before
and that's all I hear
go away
and each time, I'm shocked
though I should have learned by now
what did I do wrong, I ask
tell me that, at least
the pain of rejection
I cannot bear to feel anymore
what did I do wrong?
I will not make the same mistake
mistake again, mistake again
go away, is my answer
yelled this time
as if I cannot hear
I turn away to hide my tears
and escape the room of dreadful pain
and I'm lost
I don't know where to go
no one wants me, that's the truth
that's what they tell me
time, and time again
as if I have no feelings
go away
go away
go away
that's all they say
that's all I hear
go away,
just go away
as if I were always there.
