Do you remember when?
Do you remember?
Do you remember when,
We used to play in the meadows,
Running and play fighting with our friends,
Darting in and out of the shadows?
Do you remember when,
Stories of adventures were told,
Of handsome nights, brave and bold,
Of pirates, searching for buried gold,
Of the three witches, haggard and old,
And all this, we re-lived,
With our own imagination?
Do you remember when,
We sat round the fire,
The whole family,
We'd converse and conspire?
Do you remember when,
We played we were flower fairies,
Cornflower, laburnum, mulberry,
Ragged robin and blackberry,
Silver birch and strawberry,
We'd skip down the lane,
And crawl through the thicket?
Do you remember when,
We'd traipse up the stairs,
Weary and exhausted,
From all the day's affairs?
Remember all these things,
Before the television,
Took the imagination
Out of our minds,
And filled our heads with rubbish?
