Freedom Dance
Yes, her eyes are shining
They’re lit with unshed tears
Yes, her lips are smiling
Just to distract her from her fears
Her voice, it may be laughing
Her brokenness to hide
See, you forgot when looking at her
That you ought to look inside
But she dances with a passion
That you can’t understand
For you haven’t looked and seen
The way she fights with empty hands
And that dancing is her worship
When she cannot find the words
And the laughter is her prayer
To be stronger than the hurt
In her dance you see her fall
And somehow get up again
With a grace and strength and heartache
That is too often lost to man
For only in the darkness
That ties her to the ground
Has she learned to fly again
With wings that once were bound
And only while she’s flying
Does the mask that others see
Fall off by God’s power
And His grace which sets her free
