For Our Own Betterment
They tell me to be grateful,
they demand that I should comply.
How dare they think themselves better?
When equally so, am I!
They'd wound me, so I should weep,
Then taunt "Tis' weakness to cry".
They'd claim 'It was for their own betterment.'
But witness cannot lie.
All for purposes true and noble.
For is that not why we die?
Some say the road to ruin is paved with good intentions,
And now, I realize, why.
