If Ever
My heart breaks to pieces,
It's shattered and torn
Between thinking and feeling,
What I hope, what I know.
Only you can link together
This empty heart of mine,
But nothing can be done right now
To ease my restless, mournful mind.
These sections of my broken heart
Rise from the contradictions
Between happiness I feel for you
And envy when you're with her.
For me to find a cure for this,
Your happiness may suffer,
So please do not accomodate
My failure to recover.
But someday, after time has passed,
I might compose the guts to ask
If ever there was such a time
When I could say your love was mine.
