Passage of Age
I feel you are growing too old too fast,
And the times of happiness and joy will not last
Of course you're only turning one,
Meaning your childhood is not already done
Important people, have entered your life to help you get your way,
But I can't wait till you blow out the candles today
Because when you do another year will arise,
And we'll finally be done with your kicks, screams, and cries
I think you should know that we all really care,
For your first birthday, we'll always be there
So please don't grow too old too fast,
And promise me the times of happiness and joy will last
Because you're only turning one,
Your childhood is nowhere close to done,
But instead your everlasting fun has only begun
Along with the heavenly angels from above, this family shows you lots and lots of love

This is a poem I wrote for one of my cousins who was turning one, instead of getting her a toy. She probably can't read it now, but I hope she does in the future.
