The Smile Before It Rains (Do You Know Why?)

Do you remember that look you got
When you saw the eyes of someone in New York?
Seeing a flower blooming in the frost
Seeing a lover alone in bed, distraught
These eyes are quickly swept away
And then do you know why
he left them all to die?
Scarred red paint across his face
Can you see the sadness in his eyes?
Perhaps you chanced upon
that quiet type?
Brinking on the day
That they abandon time
What holds them back?
Who holds them back?
And then do you know why
The darkness fades in light?
Its like the cold hard truth
Set ablaze from life...
