Society Said
Let's play a game the losers lose their heads
Let's do everything that our society said
Let's altar our bodies with surgury and meds
To win this game filled with nothing but dread
Society says that we should all be purebreds
Everyone else should surely be dead
Losers tuck tails between their own legs
As they've failed to do what society said
The Sun has set with yellows and reds
And everyone's scared, half of us dead
All of us left are complete purebreds
When society changes we're sure to be dead
Let's play a game the losers lose their heads
Let's do everything that our society said
Let's altar our bodies with surgury and meds
To win this game filled with nothing but dread

I wrote this for my ELA class. We mixed up balled up pieces of paper that had different topics to write about. Then we picked up a topic at random. I picked up one that said "Societies Standards". At first, I had no idea how to write about it, so I did some research. The poem came out better than I thought it would be.
