Disconnection

It seemed like you didn’t care,
You didn’t even ask me why,
My heart broke into a million pieces,
Maybe that’s why I had to lie.

We were that awkward couple,
That no one wants to be,
But then awkward turned to nothing,
When your eyes stopped sparkling at me.

It seems like you didn’t get me,
Keeping everything inside,
I thought we were close,
But all you wanted to do was hide.

We didn’t last long,
Nothing but a stupid fling,
But I thought you were much more,
I thought it was our thing.

I don’t know what happened,
A disconnect in time?
Or was it that you weren’t ready,
Were things crowding your mind?

You once made me blinded,
But now I can see,
That you shouldn’t take for granted,
A love that is free.
