Ballad of the Gun
I was seven the first time I shot a gun.
My dad drove us to the levee.
It was just me, him, and the shotgun
But before I received it he explained safety.
I was nervous and the gun weighed a ton
This led me to be a little shaky
But never was I ready for it to be done.
Everything looked a little hazy.
As soon as the trigger was pulled I won.
I thought back and realized I was a baby.
It didn’t matter I shot the gun.
Then we drove off in a Chevy.
