The Unchanged
Everyone has changed,
Or maybe I'm deranged.
I am who I've always been,
And I don't know if I can live in that same skin.
It's too familiar now;
Too comfortable, don't ask how.
It's suffocating,
But I know that I'm where I'm supposed to be.
People depend on me.
I am their constant when everything starts to spins.
I am their conscience when their past life clashes with the new.
I'll be there to show them all their sins,
And I'll help them when they start to see through.
I can only be what I already am.
Change won't come knocking on this door.
I've been left here to hold up the dam,
So here I'll remain, fighting your war.
