When life gives you lemons, make grape juice, then watch everyone wonder how you did it!

We talked a little

I defended you

You said you appreciated it

We talked some more

You defended me

I told you my inner, bleeding heart

Of which not many have seen

A dark and gloomy place

Not seen among my usual light

I told you of my suffering, joy, and pain

You listened and comforted me

And made me smile

But now no longer

Now I try to tell you of your faults

Correct your actions

Refine your character

Into what it can be

For the greater good

You now care for me no longer

I read too much in your actions

I thought you really cared

You now tell everyone my faults

My feelings

My weaknesses

What I had said in confidence

What had troubled me so much to tell

Because it made my pain alive and real

You did not care

Yet I believed you did

Now you leave me for some others

Who will one day betray you

One day to be hurt by them

Backstabbing people

Selfish

Only caring for themselves

What you do not have to deserve

Now I silently weep as I think of you

For although you no longer care for me

No matter what you do

I still care for you

The author's comments:
People do change, and you have to realize that. The only thing in life that you can depend on is change, after all. Sometimes, when people change, it also hurts the relationship, and that is the case in this situation. I hope that you understand how I felt when this happened but that it’s okay when it happens to you.

I like how the poem has a rhythm to it while, at the same time, keeping the ideas scattered enough to create the impression that it's all taking place inside somebody's head. The poem could use some poetic devices, but that's of course your decision. Adding metaphors or similies might change the tone of the poem too much. Good job!

This is certainly one of my favorites: "I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes." -2 Samuel 6:22

You might not realize it..... But you really are helping people. I didn't notice before reading but I've been hard on my friends and completely close-minded. Great job, and thank-you. Keep writing.

God bless,
