My heart is a birdhouse
Home to the most cheery chickadee
Chirping away in the most euphonious symphony
But falling silent when it finds no song to sing in me
On such days I’m afraid I’m no place for thee
And it would be
Much more befitting if it would evolve
Into a melancholy mourning dove
