'I envy anyone with rainbow
knee socks. I can't find any!'

She’s gone now
I remember her
Do you?
She wore fairy wings to church
Here eyes were bright
Childish, those eyes were
I saw so much in those eyes
She would dress up in my suits
My heels blistered her small feet
And my scarves..
She would tie five on her neck at once
She’d tell me about her dreams
They would consists of complicated plots
Silly and childlike
She would imagine princesses
And princes
Strolling through villages
Waving with gloved hands
The prince would always save the princess
From evil men and monsters, lurking in the darkness
Why couldn’t I save her
So young, so smart
I still imagine holding her soft hand
And whispering in her ear
The last time I whispered
I did not say goodbye
Or that I’d miss her
She was too brave
I told her about heaven

This is a beautiful poem. I think that it deserves to be published in TeenInk's magazine.
