Numb

I don’t feel.
And I chose to live that way.
Everything becomes easier that way.
Everything is numb.
I cannot feel what hurts me.
I cannot feel what helps me.
I cannot feel who stabs me.
I simply cannot feel.
Your embrace however, pains me.
Your words have tried to claim me.
These pins and needles jab me.
I am numb.
People have tried to help me.
People have just hurt me.
People can’t come near me.
It’s never been so simple.
They have tried to love me.
They have failed to hold me.
They have all once lost me.
And I might lose my mind.
