Sitting on a soft sandy beach, on a sunny summer day.
I rake my fingers through the sand, hoping for a bite.
My pole sits, propped up on a stick.
Every minute I glance up at my pole, and wonder.
Do I have a bite? Or could it just be the water.
My friend sits by my side, staring like an owl at a mouse.
Then, he yells, “I have a fish!”.
I look over to see him fighting with a big fish.
Suddenly, I realize that I had caught a fish too!
I quickly grab my pole, adrenaline running through my veins.
Then I start to reel in.
Side by side, my friend and I reel in.
Only to find out that we have caught each others
lines.
