"Pulvis et umbra sumus" - Latin Phrase from Horace, Carmina book IV, 7, 16.

You always asked, "What goes through a boys mind when he falls in love?"
The truth is,
Nothing and everything at once,
A rush of thoughts of you,
Then everyone before,
Determining every chink in your armor,
Concealing them with the perfection,
That is you,
What goes through a boys mind when he is in love is the same,
As when he is abruptly thrown out of the same love,
The panicked feeling in his chest,
The racing thoughts of,
What ifs?
What could he have done to get her to stay?
What combination of words and letters could have made her stay?
Or get her to return?
Maybe the same thing that goes through a boys mind when he's in love,
Is the same as what scurries through a girls mind,
Once she had encountered love,
The same ache in the chest,
Scatter brained thoughts,
Mixed with,
Fear,
Happiness,
Calm,
Anxiety,
And trust,
Boys think girls are confusing,
While girls think boys are of a different species,
Maybe what goes through their minds are the same,
But different in many ways,
That's how love is,
How love can exist,
That's what goes through,
A mind in love.

This piece was inspired when a female friend of mine asked me, "What goes through a guys head when he is falling in love?" to which I responded, "What goes through yours?" which led to me pondering the same question as I presented to her.
