The Last Vestages of Summer

November 4, 2008
By Anonymous

The wind’s movements through the grasses cease.
Flowers die down in peace.
Shadows linger longer during the night.
Soon the green ground will be masked in white.

Leaves accumulate on the ground.
Chirping of the birds become a forgotten sound.
Animals flee from the brutality of the cold.
The numbing bitterness of winter is uncontrolled

Shades of green turn to a solid white.
The illumination of the sun becomes light.
Warmth starts to fade and falter,
Outside it begins to alter.

The buzzing of the bees becomes silent.
Heat is not longer potent.
The last vestiges of summer begin to decrease.
Soon, all of summer will cease.
